We had such a special time. Maxwell and Ella loved being with their great grandma. I loved being with my Mom and my grandma. It was smiles all around. Thank you Mom and Blano for the special week. I will remember it always. And of course, a video to remind the kids.

Road Trip = Success
Last week my Mom and I drove with Maxwell and Ella to visit my grandma, Blano, in New Mexico. We drove pretty much straight through from California, about 15 hours each way. And the kids did AMAZING. No joke, they barely made a peep on the drive. No meltdowns, no accidents, no tears. They were so, so, good. If you are considering buying a DVD player for a long trip...my vote is YES.

For Mom
Mom,
You'd think the older I get the more independent I'd become. Not the case. Ever year I need you more, appreciate you more, maybe even understand you more. Today is your birthday...happy birthday! Know that you are sooooo loved!
I'm not a huge Natalie Merchant fan, but the past couple months I've been hearing a slower acoustic version of this song. And every time I think of you-completely. Today I dedicate this song to you. Thank you.

Natalie Merchant
"Kind and Generous"
You've been so kind and generous
I don't know how you keep on giving
For your kindness I'm in debt to you
For your selflessness, my admiration
And for everything you've done
You know I'm bound...
I'm bound to thank you for it
You've been so kind and generous
I don't know how you keep on giving
For your kindness I'm in debt to you
And I never could have come this far without you
So for everything you've done
You know I'm bound...
I'm bound to thank you for it
I want to thank you
For so many gifts
You gave with love and tenderness
I want to thank you
I want to thank you
For your generosity
The love and the honesty
That you gave me
I want to thank you
Show my gratitude
My love and my respect for you
I want to thank you
I want to...
Thank you
Thank you
Thank you
Thank you
Thank you
Thank you

My Mom
Today is your Birthday! Your day to be spoiled, as you spoil us every day. Every year I appreciate you more. Most girls think they've got a great Mom....but I have the BEST Mom. You know what I need when I can't articulate it. In my saddest and happiest moments, I still want my Mom. Thank you for always being consistent. Thank you for taking care of me, taking care of my family. You cook for us, clean for us, shop for us- always smiling and telling us it is your pleasure. I am so lucky that you are my Mom. I mentally take notes and hope that I take care of my children the way you bless us. I. Love. You. Happy Birthday my mother, my friend.

Christmas in August
I have not been feeling great. (Translation: I feel like I'm going to throw up all the time). But all of this is OK because this is what I've been waiting for...pregnant women feel pukey, this is a good sign! I was talking to my Mom on the phone yesterday and she was giving me some snack suggestions to help with nausea. You'd think that was good enough, but no. Today my Dad showed up on my front door, an hour from home, bearing packages and goodies. I'm telling you, today was Christmas in August.
Thank you Mom for knowing what I need when I'm feeling too yucky to know myself. Thank you for spoiling me and just letting me be the daughter. Dad, thank you for taking the time to deliver and for the surprise visit. I love you both so very much.
