Our Easter

Holidays with kids are the best. Next year I hope we get our big kids too. We started out with baskets at home and ended up at a friend's for dinner with a hunt for the kids. First thing this morning Ella smiled at me from her crib,'Happy Birthday Mommy!' Me: 'Do you mean Happy Easter?' E: 'Yeah. Happy Easter.' Well, that was yesterday, but sure, 'Happy Easter to you too Ella.'

Maxwell opened a Car's truck.

Ella got her first Barbie.

Easter egg hunt with help from the big kids at the Borbas.

Love :)

Even the horses get spoiled on Easter.

I filled our plastic eggs with goldfish crackers and cheerios. I'm pretty sure this is the last year my kids will think that's cool.

We Went Out

Parts of the night felt like we were on a first date. The music was loud and he was pressed up against my back as we sang along to the band. In seconds the cold beer in my hand and smell of the bar made me feel like I was 21. It was a friend's band in a dive bar, and it was so so fun. I haven't been 'out' for a long time. When I do go out it's usually with the girls, but Mike and I were together and it felt so good. A couple of times over the night I looked over and I saw him watching me. He had that smile on his face and I tell you, there's nothing more that this stay at home mom needed than to be out, feeling flirty and have my husband looking at me like he wanted me. We were out all afternoon/night, and got home after 2:00 a.m.! For a couple that is usually in bed by 9, that's an occasion. I loved being your girl Mike. Thanks for a night on the town.

(and thank you grandma Judie! it's the best feeling to know that our kids are 100% happy and taken care of).

Feeding the Ducks and Cookie Love

We went to the park this morning. Enjoy these fun pictures. Because it was fun...until it was time to go and neither of them wanted to. I didn't bring the wagon or stroller so I had to wrestle both of them up on my hips while carrying our stuff. This used to be easier to do. Honestly, I was more embarrassed to have the other park mommies see my pants falling down and shirt creeping up then the actual act of my kids kicking and screaming. Oh well, the first hour was really fun :)

Max and Ella threw bread at the fed the ducks.
 They're really into their sunglasses.

Ella has her first Oreo cookie. Maxwell isn't interested.
 She loves it. Check out how she washes it down with milk like a champ.

Brother/Sister love. This Momma's favorite site.

Tomorrow Feels Like Friday

I have had nothing to write. I've kind of had a heavy heart and been...thoughtful. But nothing to blog. So here's a snapshot of today. Bubbles, running, and monkeys (Linda, if you're reading this, Maxwell and Ella have rediscovered the darling sock monkeys you made for them and they love them. I think they relate to them...seeing as they are monkeys themselves these days. They look at the monkeys, then each other, and say 'Oo oh! Ah ah!' OVER AND OVER).

Things this week that have made me smile: Ella chiming in on the things I say to Maxwell.
-Me: "Come over here buddy, I need to put your shoes on." To which she looks at him and says, "Hi Buddy."
-Me: "Honey, please don't hit me with your back back, that hurts Mommy. Ella: "Honey, no hut Mommy."

Things that made me frown:
-Student loans.
-My back in a sundress (you know how there are areas of your body that have always been a bummer? My tummy has never been flat, that's just been part of me. I know to expect it and I'm over it. But I had on a sundress and my back and arms looked chubby-Eck. New area to hide).  Although I've been eating better the past two weeks and feel good about it. Baby steps.
-Finding my hairbrush in the toilet. Thanks kiddos.

Things that gave me hope:

Psalm 71

 1 In you, LORD, I have taken refuge;
   let me never be put to shame.
2 In your righteousness, rescue me and deliver me;
   turn your ear to me and save me.
3 Be my rock of refuge,
   to which I can always go;
give the command to save me,
   for you are my rock and my fortress.
4 Deliver me, my God, from the hand of the wicked,
   from the grasp of those who are evil and cruel.

And a call from Mike that said he's coming home Wednesday, not Thursday. Which makes tomorrow feel like Friday :)

Uncle Ken

There really aren't words to describe Uncle Ken. So I'll just talk right to you U.K. We adore you. You make us laugh. You love us. You take care of us. Everything about you is fun. You talk to us and make sure everything's alright, because for you, it has to be. I'm not gonna lie, it's kind of like having a 'Godfatha.'Only better. My memories of me as a child with you and Auntie go on and on. And now I'm seeing my babies get the same 'Uncle Ken Treatment.' We are spoiled. We love you. We love your family. Come back. Miss you already. Thanks to you and Auntie, the Itsy Bittsy Spider is a must every night. I just popped these pictures up and they kept saying, 'La pen?' Lauren.

Zac Brown Band?...do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Before I Had Kids

This post could open a can of worms so I'll stick to my initial thought...before I had kids, I would tell you that I would never indulge children with Mickey Mouse at 2 a.m. That was before I had this fluke night. It's Monday, so Mike has to be up at 2:30 a.m. to leave for work. Ella ends up in bed with us. Then at 11 it  begins. Maxwell wakes up screaming. Which wakes up Ella. Which wakes up all of us. And so this continues. I try rubbing backs. I try rocking them in my arms. I finally bring them in our bed. They are still livid. I put them back in their beds. I let them cry. 11:00. 12:00. 1.:00. 2:00. 3:00. DEAR LORD. This feels like the good ole days when I had babies hanging from both boobies at all hours of the night. It's been awhile. This actually was the worst 'sleep night' to date. Who knows why...all I know is at some point I realized that Mike wasn't sleeping through any of this and he had to drive four hours and then work for ten. So I brought both of them out and had a Mickey Marathon at 2:00 a.m. Before I had kids this would have never happened. "They can cry it out." Yeah. That's a hell of a four hour cry. Here's to a better sleep tonight :)

If you're thinking to yourself, "Really? At 2:00 a.m. she's thinking 'let me take a picture so i can blog this?'" I'm right there with you. This was an attempt to keep myself awake and a photo opp that I will hopefully look back on and laugh? But not yet.

Beach Day (s)

The sun is here! I jumped the gun because it was over 60 degrees on Wed and took the kids to Morro Bay. It wasn't cold, but it wasn't hot. They still loved playing on the beach. Yesterday we met friends at Avila and it was like a summer day. I love where we live. They played in the ocean and ate sand. It was a sneak peak of summer.

Almost warm on Wed...

 Ella was happy to find a patch of flowers to pick.

 Max was content flinging sand.

Really warm on Thurs! I heard on the radio that it reached 92.

p.s. I used to always win things on the radio. When I was a counselor in a town an hour away, I would call in on my drive to work and I was the concert winning queen. Yesterday I won tickets! My music taste is all over the place so I listen to lots of different radio stations. My stepdaughter Meg has been trying to win tickets to see the Zac Brown Band at the SB Bowl...I called in yesterday and won! Yay! I have a date with Meg in May :)
