It Was Amazing

We had the best long weekend. We camped at the beach (20 min from home) in our RV and it was completely relaxing and fun.

Highlights: S'mores, sand in our feet, tide pools, no obligations, time away together.

Bummer: Ella's cough, now we're all a little sick.

We camped Thursday through Sunday. Sunday night Mike and I went to dinner and a movie to celebrate our anniversary. We haven't been to a movie together (that wasn't rated G), since I was pregnant. It was the perfect end to a great weekend. Here are too many pictures and a too long video...I want to go back...

Anniversary Camping

I'm packing up this morning to head to the beach for the weekend. We are going here. Mike and I have our 6th wedding anniversary on Sunday, and we decided on time together at the beach to celebrate.  Looking back at these old pictures is just killing me....my babies aren't babies anymore. Instead, they're helping me gather sand toys and claiming their beds in the RV. They're requesting s'mores and Popsicles, because, "Mom we get special treats when we go camping."

Indeed, we do.

Happy weekend to you and yours.

Plasket Creek

We spent the weekend camping in the Big Sur area. I call it camping, but we had our RV. The kids loved it and we had a great time. Daddy didn't have to work,

...there was never ending mischief,

...follies on the beach,

...hugs that melt my heart,
...playing in the waves (Ella LOVES the ocean),

...a lesson in skipping rocks (or just throwing them),

...temporary suit wearing,

...campside games (with new rules),

...great friends with ADORABLE baby girl, Charley,

...and mouth watering fish tacos- caught and cooked by Mike, that day.

People always ask me if it gets easier with twins. As with all kids, I think it just changes. But this was our best ('easiest') camp trip yet.

The rest of our camping pictures (I take way too many) are here, along with adorable photos and videos of Uncle Spencer giving the kids their first official swim lessons.

Camping At The Beach

Saturday morning we took our RV to Morro Bay to camp for the night. I always think this sounds fun, until nap time or night time and it gets really hard with the kids. But this trip was different! Maybe it's because they're getting older, but they took a nap! And went to bed, together, in their own bed! This might not be big for some families, but in ours I always have a hard time with the two of them when we are away and it's time to sleep. We spent a couple hours on the beach and I was disappointed because I forgot my memory card for the camera. When we went back out to play before dinner I remembered I could use my phone...so here are my phone pics. This mini trip made me excited for more camping this summer.

Sand crabs

Our friend Jerry and his son Cooper came to hang out for a bit. Jerry takes Max for a ride.

After lots of playing on the beach we set the kids up with a movie...and they fell asleep. I was so happy :)
The next morning was opening season for ocean fishing. Mike's friend's picked him up early and they went out on their kayaks. Mike caught this guy- can't wait for fish tacos!

The bummer of the weekend...we came home to a leaking ceiling in our kitchen. It now looks like this. A project we weren't ready for.

Santa Cruz Recap

Spent an awesome weekend camping in Santa Cruz. If you are not our family, this post may bore you to death. Here are way too many pictures...

Max and Ella take over the RV~

Around camp~

When we found our camp site, I told Maxwell and Ella that these stumps were their 'special chairs.'

Little Meg and her boyfriend Zack came too. Isn't her hair cute dark?

Helping Dad set up a tent to play in~

Love this face.

Around the camp fire~

Everyone wants to wear Dad's hat~

We took a steam train to the boardwalk~

When we got there, Maxwell ruled at race car driving and Ella made Mama proud with her fancy footwork on Dance Dance Revolution~

Everyone was sleepy on the ride home~

Not pictured: Mike, Meg and Zack zip lining. A few baby meltdowns. Yummy BBQ dinners with friends. Me wanting to cry when, at 9:30, Maxwell and Ella were still awake, and wouldn't fall asleep unless we laid down with them (which made me so thankful of the easy bedtime routine at home- which entails putting them in their beds, walking away, and enjoying a few hours of quiet time before the next day).
